Through four years’ study in Finance at Jilin University, I have obtained the necessary training and practical skills for future studies. The courses I have taken not only endowed me with a solid theoretical background in finance, but also enabled me to explain real world economic phenomena. For instance, through the courses of Money Banking and International Finance, I obtained a comprehensive understanding about finance from different perspectives. Through analyzing cases from Financial Marketing and Investment, I was able to utilize what I have learned into real practice. In addition to learning knowledge about finance through taking classes, I also strived to strengthen my professional ability through stimulated futures speculation and watching news on finance and economics in order to gain a deeper understanding on finance. The more practice I took, the more interested I became in analyzing economics cases with what I have learned in finance.  
 
My passion in finance has propelled me to a greater extent than learning the subject from textbook only. In the aforementioned research experience, I shouldered the responsibility of data collection, analysis, and the important part of extending the preliminary research result into finance field. This valuable experience has taught me the importance of substantial preparation and vigorous analysis in the success of a research. Moreover, I came to realize the importance of co-operation within a group. Apart from this research experience, I also carried many other researches on finance-related topics, such as Carbon finance’s special character and its marketing influence factor, the influence of stock index futures on China’s stock futures market, etc.
 
In addition to the various research projects at school, I have taken a number of on-site internships at local banks. For example, in the summer of 2011, I worked as a reception manager in a local bank. In order to provide immediate help for customers, I need to get familiar with the procedure of each operation and the information about some financial products. During the two-month internship, I not only gained first-hand knowledge on banking business, but also improved my ability in coping with unexpected situations. Another valuable experience is working as the assistant of customer manager in a bank. My main work was to sell financial products to customers and record customers’ information. The big challenge for me was to memorize abundance of financial products’ pros and cons, and sell them to appropriate customers. Such practical experiences have deepened my understanding in finance, and made me determined to obtain an advanced degree in this field.
 
Although study and research have been the most important part of my life, they are not the only component. Before graduation I served as the vice chairman of the university’s Sunshine Volunteer Association. It is an association with more than one thousand members and aims to provide help to those who are in need. During the three-year period, I have organized many major events, such as the “Earth Hour” activity within the university, care for the seniors in nursery home, and the volunteer teaching in migrant workers’ children’s school. These activities greatly helped my leadership development, teamwork ability and communication skills. Through interacting with people of various backgrounds, I have learned to understand their personalities and ideologies, and the proper manner of expressing myself in public.
